Week 6!

Another fabulous week in 5L has come and gone!  Here's a snapshot of our learning:

Curriculum:
*Math: we wrapped up place value and decimals and took our unit 1 test on Thursday.
*Writing: we are continuing to work on personal narratives
*Reading: interpretation book clubs were launched
*Social Studies: we began studying Three Worlds Meet

Other Happenings:
*Played Trashketball to review for our first math test
* Worked on "climbing inside" our personal narratives to write at a deeper, more descriptive level
*Worked on studying other author's words to awake our own ideas
*Chose books for our first book clubs and created constitutions where members discussed how they would be held accountable, what they would talk about at each meeting, and how they will be prepared for each meeting
*Began our Global Read Aloud, Pax
*Learned about the 5 themes of geography and how to think like a historian
*Learned about perspective, and how different identities have very different perspectives on events in history
*Met up in the garden with our 2H reading buddies!

Here's a look at our first book clubs!

FYI:
*Stratham Hill Park, October 14th
*Early Release Wednesday, October 26th and Wednesday, November 2nd.
