Week 4!

Our week began with a flurry of exciting news...5L was receiving a new student!  Our class could not have been more excited.  Here's a quick peek at our week:

*Math: We explored expanded form, standard form and word form of decimals.  We also learned how to read and pronounce decimals, as well as comparing and ordering decimals.  On Friday, we got to practice all of our newly learned skills with 5W during some math games!

*Literacy: We began both of our reading and writing units. 5L will be focusing on personal narratives as well as interpretation book clubs.

*Growth Mindset: We learned the difference between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset. As a class, we brainstormed ways that we could shift our mindset in difficult situations.  Take a look at what we came up with!  We also looked at famous failures and discussed the traits and mindsets they all had in common.

*Mystery Skype:  5L had their first Mystery Skype of the year on Tuesday.  Ask your child where the mystery class was located!
