*Math: We wrapped up unit 4 and took our mid year assessments. We also went shopping with 5D! Students were given a $500 budget and "bought" various items from stores in order to practice a real world application of adding and subtracting decimals. It was so much fun! We will begin unit 5 on Monday.
*Literacy: We are in the final stages of finishing our second research report. On Friday, students began the publishing process and will be creating real informational books that can actually be printed! There was a lot of excitement buzzing around the room!
*Science: Students participated in a science talk and all groups did a fantastic job of thinking critically. Small groups then brainstormed a question they had about density or matter that could be tested, created an experiment and typed up a lab report. Students will test out their experiments on Monday.
*Spelling City was introduced this week. Beginning Monday, it will become a part of homework a few nights per week.
*Please make sure the grade 5 vs. staff basketball form has been signed and returned to school!
