- Math: we worked on finding area of rectangles with fractional side lengths, converting improper numbers to mixed fractions and measurement conversions.
- Reading: we took our level 3 sticky notes from last week and worked hard at pushing and deepening our thinking by writing long off of them.
- Writing: we began blogging! We talked a lot about what makes a quality blog post and what makes a quality blog comment. In the coming weeks I will have a login code so that you can view our class blog and comment on writing!
- Social Studies:- we launched our first unit, three worlds meet. Students learned about the five themes of geography with 5D!
- We read with our reading buddies and learned about Johnny Appleseed.
We also had our very first MYSTERY SKYPE! Not sure what a Mystery Skype is? Mystery Skype is an educational game, invented by teachers, played by two classrooms on Skype. The aim of the game is to guess the location of the other classroom by asking each other questions. It's suitable for all age groups and can be used to teach subjects like geography, history, languages, mathematics and science. Our class figured out the other classes location in 10 guesses. They did such a great job of working together and asking really specific yes or no questions.
