Week 30!

This week certainly did fly by!  It's hard to believe that April Vacation is only two mere weeks away. Here's a snapshot of our week:

*Math:  We continued working with 5D to review all of the skills we have learned throughout the year.  Some centers included practice with adding/subtracting fractions, adding/subtracting decimals, volume, interpreting data as well as mixed review.

*Literacy: Students completed their argument writing and are ready to being prepping for their debates!  We also worked on  a performance task to practice for SBAC.  Students read three different articles, chose a side and wrote an on demand essay using evidence from all three articles to support their claim.

*Social Studies: We are underway with our play prep!  Students have been working in their groups to create a story arc, plan which characters will be involved in their scene and what perspectives they will showcase.  From there, groups began writing their scripts.  Mrs. Delello and myself are seriously impressed with what we have seen so far!  The play will be on THURSDAY, APRIL 21st at 1:30 in the cafeteria.

*Smarter Balanced Testing: We began the ELA portion on Thursday and continued this on Friday.  Next week, we will have testing on Monday, Tuesday and Friday.

*Jeff Warner: Our artist in residence will begin seeing the entire fifth grade on Monday.  Jeff Warner comes every year to teach New Hampshire history through folk songs.  Check out this article about him for more information: Jeff Warner Article

Enjoy the weekend!
