Week 20!

Another week of hard work has come and gone! Students have been working really hard to finish their MixBooks, learn new math skills and experience life as a colonist.  We even spent time Friday building a wind turbine with some UNH students.  Check out some highlights below:

*Math:

  • Took our fraction review unit test
  • Completed a math reflection about our "self paced" choice unit
  • Began our new unit...adding and subtracting fractions!
  • Reviewed adding and subtracting fractions with like denominators
*Literacy:
  • Finished benchmarking (to see reading growth) with all students
  • Finished up MixBooks
  • We are currently editing like crazy so that books can be ordered
  • I will send home information about purchasing early next week
  • We will begin argument and advocacy next week in both reading and writing
*Social Studies:
  • Students were placed in colonial families
  • Researched the climate, pros, cons, jobs and hardships of each region
  • Created a list of "tradable goods"
  • Families will barter on Monday to trade for goods they will need to survive the winter
*STEMBASSADORS:
UNH students visited us on Friday and guided us with building a wind turbine.  It was so much fun!

Enjoy your weekend!
